The Story
Japan is known for its very good tea. For daily use, the sencha is the most used, a Gyokuro, on the other hand, is the very best tea there is. It is a top product, grown with great care.
This gyokuro comes from the Oku Yutaka tea plants. These tea plants give a very nice tea with a deep umami flavor, even without putting the plants in the shade. By placing the plants in the shade for 10 days to two weeks before harvesting, the plants produce extra chlorophyll and the L-theanine is retained. The result is an exceptionally deep umami flavor.
Tip! Use water at a lower temperature to avoid burning the leaves.
